Why to adopt an Olive Tree

Our project "Adopt an Olive Tree" is born in response to the demands on the environment created over the last+ years. The region of Umbria, known as the Green Heart of Italy, is undergoing a steady transformation from its millennium old tradition of the olive cultivation to other commercial industry. This has left acre upon acre of olive trees literally abandoned. these trees are located onUmbria's rolling hills which require manual labor to maintain and pick the olives. Other than small tractors and carts, machines cannot be used, let alone fit, in the olive groves.

With your help our goal is to bring these bandoned olive trees back into bearing the fruit that will produce the high quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil they once did.

By adopting an olive tree it will be literally re-born and brought back to the life it once had, a plaque with your name with be placed on the tree and you will be updated with photos on the pruning and upkeep of your tree. You will also be able to track the flowe blooming in the spring, and the harvest and pressing in the fall wether by newsletter or in person.

 

You will in fact always have the opportunity at any time of year to see your tree, and during the month of November come and visit the olive mill to see the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

                                      

With each tree you will receive a certificate that attests to the adoption and during the month of December you mill receive four (4) half liter bottles of the olive oil from your tree, beautifully packaged in a wooden crate and personalized with your own handwritten labels.
